Layering Guide
A calm routine framework—built to hold hydration.

Layering is not about adding more steps. It is about placing the right steps in the right order so skin stays comfortable, hydrated, and tolerant—especially when devices or actives enter the routine.

Where actives fit (without burning your barrier)

Actives are optional tools. Use them only when your baseline routine is stable, and introduce one at a time.

Safer starting pattern
  • Hydrate → active → moisturizer
  • 2–3 nights per week first
  • Increase frequency slowly
Optional active (2–3 nights/week)

If you want one optional active to anchor your routine, start conservatively and prioritize tolerance over speed.

Common failure mode
  • Multiple actives in one night
  • Exfoliation + retinoid + device stacking
  • Escalating to “push through” irritation

If your skin is reactive, actives do not become “better” because they sting. Stinging is usually a signal to reduce frequency.
